CTC has successfully performed a clinical trial using the volumetric absorptive microsampling (VAMS) technique. This is a microsampling technique used to obtain dried blood or other biological samples suitable for a plethora of bioanalytical assessments. A sample of as little as 10-20 mL blood is collected, dried and then analysed or frozen for analysis at a later timepoint.
This technique is similar to the dried blood spots technique that has been used for more than 40 years, yet has a few significant advantages, such as increased sampling volume accuracy. The VAMS method is validated according to the PK-sampling guidelines of the EMA and FDA. At CTC, we look forward to implementing the VAMS technique in more clinical trials in the future.
